CALL FOR PAPERS

The international workshop, "Comparative Projects in Arabic in Arab and non- Arab Universities : Epistemological and methodological Issues", aims to assess the relevance of theses projects carried out by young researchers in Arabic and foreign languages in the field of comparative literature in relation to the considerable developments undergone in that field and continues to be debated on a global scale. Comparative literature is a multidisciplinary field that transcends the boundaries of languages, genres, disciplines and expressive/creative arts. Furthermore, it investigates the extent to which studies in that area are updated to the comparative literature and cultural studies connection that touch upon political, historical, social, and economic issues in all forms of cultural productions. This represents a democratic turn in the Human Sciences based on an understanding of the impact of cultural studies culture in the construction of a new discourse that counters the elitist cultural concepts.

Based on connections binding comparative practice and the level of critical thinking in each cultural system, as well as a nation's standing on the global stage (including the status of its language(s)), this workshop aims, on the other hand, to examine the quality of contribution that the projects of young researchers in Arabic Literatures and Cultures represent to Arab comparative practice. This practice is currently characterized by openness and the intermingling of experiences, thanks to the efforts made by its representatives in Arabic and in various comparative languages across the Arab region. These efforts are driven by their engagement with the latest developments in global comparative studies and their connection to the epistemological and methodological questions posed by the Arab cultural system. Despite the shared interests of all comparatists worldwide, comparative practices differ from one country to another due to varying starting points and approaches. From this perspective, the workshop, "Comparative Projects in Arabic in Arab and non- Arab Universities : Epistemological and methodological Issues", offers young comparatists the opportunity to explore productive disagreements within the Arab cultural continuum. It should be noted that the specificity of Arab comparative practice depends on developments in the Arab cultural field, particularly during the third millennium, in the context of its interaction with international comparative dynamics. This enriches comparative dialogue within the Arab world, opening new perspectives and enabling Arabic comparative practice to engage in dialogue with comparative practices on a global scale.
