This triennial prize is awarded to a graduate student who delivers an excellent paper within one of the Next Gen sessions at an International triennial Congress of the AILC-ICLA.

Criteria / How to apply

The paper can be nominated by any active ICLA member who heard the paper given on the ICLA programme, by using a designated nomination form.

The nominations will be sent to the Chair of the ECARE Committee before the General Assembly meeting taking place at the Congress.

What is the Prize/Grant

Winners will receive a cash prize of US $250 and publication of their paper in the Association’s journal Recherche Littéraire/Literary Research (the length of the paper should remain at the same length as that which was given at the Congress).

Who can apply

The nominee must be an active ICLA member and enrolled in a doctoral programme in comparative literature or in a related field at the time of the Congress when the paper is given.

When decisions will be made/communicated

The paper with the most nominations will be declared the winner, and announced at the General Assembly, as well as in the AILC-ICLA Newsletter and on the website.

Other information

The winners at the 2025 Congress in Seoul, Korea are: Felicia Cucuta (Harvard University), for her paper “Care and Kinship: Staging the More-than-Human in Canadian and Greenlandic Theatre”, and Song Huang (University of Virginia), for her presentation “From Jinjiang to the Global Stage: Reimagining Chuānyuè (Time Travel) as a Bridge Between Cultures, Genres, and Times”. They share the US $ 250 prize.
