Le congrès de l'Association Internationale de Littérature Comparée qui a eu lieu en 2019 à Macao a attiré des centaines de chercheuses et chercheurs du monde entier. Ce volume comprend une modeste sélection d’articles et aborde quatre domaines parmi les domaines les plus contemporains de la discipline : l’avenir de la comparaison, la place de la littérature nationale et de la littérature diasporique dans le contexte de la mondialisation, l’importance de la traduction et les concepts de la littérature-monde. Les contributions couvrent de vastes zones géographiques et culturelles, mais accordent une attention particulière aux liens entre les littératures occidentales (américaine et européenne) et asiatiques (en particulier indienne et est-asiatique). Les littératures du monde peuvent entretenir des différences, mais elles sont également interconnectées.
