2022 Election: Amendment of the Statutes
During the 2022 elections, taking place from 7 to 27 July, online, AILC-ICLA members will also be asked to vote on a change to the Statutes.
The current Statutes of the ICLA allow proxy voting. However, given that elections now take place online and that our new electronic voting system allows members to vote from any location, proxy voting is no longer necessary.
It is therefore proposed to eliminate references to proxy voting from the Statutes.
Article X in the Statutes currently reads:
X
The Executive Council of the Association is elected by the General Assembly, which is made up of the members of the Association in attendance, of those absent members who send signed proxies to representatives of their choice, and of those absent members who have voted by electronic ballot according to the procedure established by the Executive Council.
The proposed amendment modifies Article X as follows:
X
The Executive Council of the Association is elected by the General Assembly, which is made up of the members of the Association in attendance and absent members who have voted electronically according to the procedures established by the Executive Council.
